Vortex Metal Manufacturing is searching for a Shop Supervisor to join our team! The Shop Supervisor will manage all operations of the production floor. The Shop Supervisor will be experienced in leading people and teams in a manufacturing setting. This individual should have a LEAN manufacturing background and must be an exceptional problem solver with a strong drive for continuous improvement. The Shop Supervisor is a metrics/performance-oriented leader with strong communication skills, and is considered a self-starter and organized, has technical aptitude and great leadership skills, learns quickly, is a team-player and has the desire to progress within manufacturing leadership positions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provideleadership and training to accomplish production objectives while maintaining a strong floor presence.
  • Leadsafety by conducting/participating in safety meetings, identifies safety issues and follows-up as necessary with appropriate team members.
  • Coordinateproduction activities with other departments to ensure production goals/objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Collaboratewith the operations team to ensure adequate coverage for planned or unplanned absences. Coordinatewith Human Resources to report both excused and unexcused absences as required.
  • Establishand monitorshift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enterproduction data accurately into system in order to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory, and overall production.
  • Respondto employees’ questions and concerns, as necessary. Works with Human Resources for guidance in handling more sensitive employee relations issues, investigations or disciplinary matters.
  • Workwith other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses. Implements cost effective systems around this as necessary.
  • Promoteshop floor organization, plant housekeeping with employees utilizing LEAN techniques such as 5S with shift personnel.
  • Actas first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and legality of all products manufactured and marketed, where applicable.

Qualifications


What You’ll Bring:

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • Leadership experience in guiding individuals and teams within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • LEAN manufacturing background is required.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and familiarity with materials handling equipment are necessary.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Willingness and aptitude to learn the technical aspects of the job and be hands-on with equipment surveys/inspections.
  • High energy level, strong work ethic, can-do attitude, great time management skills, and highly effective interpersonal style.
  • Capable of effectively managing your time using online sales tools to analyze sales activity, pipeline, and general sales effectiveness.
  • Proficient in working with various software including Microsoft Office Suite, social networking sites, and web-based programs.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
