Summary: We are seeking a Nutritionist/Dietitian to develop and revise nutrition policies; providing technical assistance to contractors on nutrition services. This individual will actively participate in unit and bureau staff meetings and assignments

Job Title: Nutritionist/Dietitian

Location: Rochester, NY 14620

Target Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM Saturday/Sunday

Target Duration/End Date: April 2026

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Maintains system for documenting information in an individuals' medical record. Documents appropriate information on diet history, food intake, caloric and other nutrient requirements, drug-nutrient interaction, and existing disease states

· b. Utilizes appropriate computer support applications and maintains necessary databases to ensure appropriate care and service

· c. Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team

· d. Teaches nutrition group classes during the work week and occasionally on rotating weekend schedule

· e. Communicates and collaborates with medical providers regarding patient's individualized nutrition needs

· f. Ensure the integration of cultural, religious, and ethnic foods in the planning and delivery of balanced meals for culturally diverse patients

· g. Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and staff

· h. Monitors patient food and fluid intake at meals

· i. Participate in committees and taskforces as assigned

· j. Providing remote weekend on-call coverage on a rotating schedule

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in food service administration, community nutrition, human nutrition, dietetics, public health, health education and/or an equitable degree from an accredited institution. Current certification in New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist OR maintains current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian. Continued employment as a Dietitian 2 is dependent upon the maintenance of current certification/registration. Candidate must have:

Either 1: current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD)

You must indicate your RD registration number on your application

Or 2: your New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition

AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours* of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD. You must indicate your NYSED certification in dietetics-nutrition number on your application

Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

· Database and data analysis experience

· Planning or conducting public health and/or nutrition education programs to assist in health promotion

· Experience using varied communication techniques – spoken, written, and web-based

· Registered Dietitian with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or has completed an accredited nutrition and dietetics internship program and is eligible for Registration

· Experience working for food assistance programs such as Federally funded USDA nutrition programs, Emergency Feeding Organization, Food Bank or Food Pantry

· Planning or conducting public health and/or nutrition education programs to assist in health promotion

· Ability to regularly travel throughout the western region. (Travel expected to be 20% of time)

· Experience working in a governmental setting

· Experience providing programmatic guidance and technical assistance

· Experience with contract procurement or fiscal management

· Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) OR New York State

· Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition AND a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD

· The additional 400 hours required is in addition to the 800 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD required for NYSED certification
