Description
This part-time (25 hours per week) Monday-Friday daytime position offers pay starting at $17.75 an hour and is eligible to receive sick and holiday pay. The Banquet Prep & Line Cook, under general supervision, will perform various food preparation, cooking, and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering dishes to patrons.
Responsibilities:

• Follow the daily prep list create by the Kitchen Manager
• Setup workstations and ensure all ingredients are stocked for service
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
• Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
• Assist with food production when needed; prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches etc.
• Follow recipes and production and portion standards
• Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
• Maintain a safe, clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
• Ensure all food and other items are prepared and stored properly and adhere to HACCP guidelines to ensure safe and sanitary food production
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay pertinent information
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize duties to meet deadlines
• Work cooperatively, with high energy, in a face paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
• Knowledge of catering, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, cost control and presentation

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• Working experience as a Banquet Cook, Prep Cook, and or Line Cook, with demonstrated ability in food production and batch cooking
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, training from a culinary school a plus
• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen, ServSafe certification preferred
