The Cloud Media Solutions organization builds technologies and innovations that easily integrate into service providers’ infrastructure to make content experiences more effective, meaningful, and engaging for consumers.

Join our team at Dolby as a Cloud Solutions Media Support Engineer, where you will champion our cloud media processing service and help customers rapidly adopt and integrate our technologies into their media workflows. In this role, you will work with a diverse range of customers during the pre- and post-sales process, interacting through ticketing systems, email, telephone, and web-based meetings. You will independently complete assignments, interpret generally defined practices and methods, and apply your knowledge and understanding of customer needs to provide training and guidance both internally and externally. Essential Job Functions:

  • Directly interact with customers and new prospects to help them adopt and use Dolby’s cloud-based technologies.
  • Become a technical authority in cloud media processing.
  • Provide detailed integration support and deep technical knowledge to our partners who are integrating Dolby’s cloud-based services into their own offerings.
  • Understand customer requirements, deliver technical presentations, technology demonstrations, and promote the value proposition of Dolby technologies to customers.
  • Be the technical lead for demonstrations to customers, technical staff, and senior management.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in professional video engineering.
  • 4 years of direct experience in system engineering and/or other technical customer support in the broadcast or OTT industry.
  • Strong experience with video codecs and compression standards such as H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud services, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda primarily).
  • Experience integrating/consuming REST APIs.
  • Comfort at the command line and using command line tools.
  • Knowledge of common video analysis tools, particularly focused on file-based workflows.
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting video encoding and streaming problems.
  • Experience with FFMPEG at the command line.
  • Experience coding in one or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Experience working with streaming technologies and protocols including HLS and MPEG-DASH.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals established in a team environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically.
  • High competency in written and verbal English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally, domestically and internationally.

Desired Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Streaming, Broadcast, MVPD content distribution systems, and architectures is highly desirable.
  • Experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Markdown, etc.
  • Knowledge of closed captioning and subtitle formats.
  • Additional experience with non-AWS clouds (GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • A software portfolio (via Github or similar) is desirable.
  • Experience with Docker.
  • Experience with DRM technologies.
  • Experience with OTT Playback scenarios including streaming player implementation for web and/or app development for devices.
  • Experience writing technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Dolby's products, technologies, and customers.

The Atlanta Area base salary range for this full-time position is $84,500 - $101,500, which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range and perks and benefits for your location during the hiring process.
