Dog's Day Out is Hiring a Kennel Attendant Near Bowling Green, KY

We are searching for an attentive, compassionate kennel attendant to oversee the well-being of the animals in our care. The kennel attendant's responsibilities include cleaning suites, administering medication, providing guests with food and water, and managing playgroups throughout the day.

To ensure success as a kennel attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of dogs. Ultimately, a top-notch kennel attendant will be able to tailor their care according to dogs' physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is compassionate about animal care.

  • Full Time, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday schedule required
  • Holidays are REQUIRED, this includes major holiday breaks such as Spring/Fall/Winter
  • Evening Shift (2:00p.m.- 9:00p.m.)
  • Pay starting at $10.00 an hour; negotiable with prior experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interacting with, handling, and caring for dog guests at our facility.
  • Feed dogs on a set schedule, including special diets as needed.
  • Administer medications.
  • Ensuring that the dogs have ample fresh water at all times.
  • Supervising Play groups.
  • Maintaining safety standards across the facility.
  • Clean and maintain Suites and guest living areas on a daily basis, including animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris.
  • Provide enrichment opportunities for guests.
  • Calming dogs who are in distress.
  • Help as needed with the check-in of arriving guests and inspection.
  • Follow proper safety measures and procedures when using chemicals and cleaning supplies
  • Help maintain a clean and organized facility.
  • Inform management of any health issues with the dogs.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Evacuating all dogs if an emergency occurs.
  • Assist other employees and clients in a cheerful and respectful manner.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry 40 lbs bags and boxes.
  • Able to bend and squat regularly.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
  • Must have good range of motion in joints especially wrist, knees, elbows.
  • Must have good range of motion in your back for twisting etc.
  • Must possess an acceptable degree of dexterity in hands and fingers.
  • Must be able to see fine detail in a variety of situations.
  • Must have acceptable sense of balance.
  • Must possess excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to work in potentially extreme environmental temperatures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must be 18 years or older.

Previous experience caring for animals will be advantageous.
