Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Coordinator

  • possesses exceptional facilitation, communication, organizational and time management skills;
  • is self-directing, with the ability to identify priorities and mobilize projects in an orderly fashion to achieve desired results and effectively uses collaboration in driving decisions;
  • has the ability to understand technical issues at a high level and is self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems; and,
  • works with the Scrum team and Product Owner (Product Line Manager) to create a great collaborative environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties:

  • Supports the product development process
    • Runs sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives and sprint reviews for scrum teams of about 7 members.
    • Helps the team find the appropriate level of sprint commitment, i.e. helps the team find how many points they should commit to per sprint using relevant velocity data and requirements definition.
    • Coaches team on agile practices and encourages adoption by providing the team an environment that fosters Agile methodologies via retrospectives, scrums, sprint planning, etc.
    • Works with team to ensure requirements are detailed and to properly define and estimate stories.
    • Run daily standup meetings; understand and remove obstacles
    • Help identify and mitigate risks
    • Owns the metrics for the team and utilizes data to effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members
    • Encourages transparency by using tools like JIRA and making information available and transparent to stakeholders.
    • Continuously improves processes to improve execution
    • Empowers the team to self-organize
  • Supports the Product Line Manager (Product Owner)
    • Assists as needed with backlog maintenance
    • Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and broadcasting information as appropriate
    • Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs
    • Understands the products and customers to the extent that he/she can perform as an effective backup to the Product Line Manager/Product Owner when necessary
  • Supports the Product Team
    • Assists team with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition
    • Participates proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices
    • Identifies and remove impediments, prevent distractions
    • Facilitates discussion and conflict resolution
    • Empowers the team to self-organize

Other Duties:

  • Travels as needed for their assigned product line 0 - 25% of the year as required or as directed by DSS Management.

SECURITY AND PRIVACY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS:

  • Required:
    • Agile Experience Required
    • Demonstrated knowledge of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
    • Enthusiastic, high-energy, with a positive attitude
    • Ability to support the understanding of fundamentals of iterative development; Agile software development processes and procedures
    • Deep understanding of scrum and other related methodologies that can be leveraged to provide value to a team/enterprise
    • Understanding of the importance of sprint commitments by a development team, and demonstrated ability to ensure that the team delivers consistently
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and run great, effective meetings
    • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; both verbal and written.
    • Excellent Team Building and Empowerment Skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Desired:
    • Scrum Master Certification preferred
    • Strong Project Management background is a plus
    • Project Management Experience
    • Proven ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Healthcare IT Experience
    • Experience with Atlassian: JIRAs agile platform and products for Application Lifecycle Management a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • Required:
    • Associates or bachelors degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or relevant discipline.
  • Desired:
    • Any advanced education or training in a relevant discipline

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Scrum Master Certification [CSM] preferred
  • Project Management Professional [PMP] preferred
    • must be willing and able to attain certification if it is not currently achieved
