DNV is Hiring a Remote Electric Grid Head of Solutions

Local Unit & Position Description

The role of Head of Department, Electric Solutions Americas within Digital Solutions (DS) is to lead the operational delivery team for DNV s Electric software and solutions as well as to represent that department on the America s Regional Leadership Team (RLT). Reporting to the Regional Manager, Americas, this position will be co-located with the delivery team in Corvallis, OR/Mechanicsburg, PA/Houston, TX, and will be responsible for generating delivery revenue and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction related to the implementation and configuration of the CASCADE and Synergi Electric families of solutions.

What You ll Do

  • Responsibilities span the areas of Electric regional leadership, line and resource management and development, sales support, and project management, including but not limited to:
    • Contributing to the Annual Operating Plan budgeting and periodic reforecasting efforts as required by DS and Region Americas management
    • Leading, motivating, developing and managing the team to ensure they can contribute to the business objectives for growth, profitability, chargeability, quality & availability
    • Working closely with the Regional Manager, Electric Product Line Director, Sales and other Department Heads to ensure that your team holds the skills, capacity and flexibility to meet the aspirations of the business plan
    • Working closely with the other RLT members to ensure that the revenue performance delivers to the business plan
    • Serving as proposal and scope manager in support of sales opportunities
    • Serving in the role of project manager for the delivery of select projects
  • Providing all required Electric Solution planning and reporting deliverables to DS Region Americas management
  • Leads Department ensuring that the team grows excellent technical capability, behavioral competencies & flexibility in line with the requirements of the Product Line business model
  • Works effectively with the Electric Sales Team to develop effective proposals and deliver projects to time, cost and quality
  • Motivates and develops delivery team members, developing career paths, setting targets and appraising performance through the DNV performance management process
  • Supports the development of business plans and budget
  • Assists in the definition and adherence to the delivery processes and procedures, such as Project Delivery Methodology and Project Management processes
  • Assumes Project Management responsibilities for select projects
  • Effectively liaise with Product Center support and development functions to meet business needs through efficient resource and task sharing
  • Ensures safe working practices in line with company policies and procedures

Position Qualifications

What is Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related area
  • A professional with extensive experience and skill (technically and commercially) from Electric Utility and/or Software Consulting industry, preferably both on the customer/user side and the supplier side
  • 10 years work experience as a manager leading consultants, researchers or other knowledge workers .
  • Successful track record leading and inspiring technical teams to grow technical capability, behavioral competencies & flexibility
  • Experience managing a P&L including the monitoring, forecasting and reporting of results.
  • A track record of effective resource planning, management, deployment, and resource skills development in a software development environment
  • A track record of successful project management, preferably in the utility software business sector
  • Flexibility to travel within the region and overseas for various periods of time.
  • Experience with software products and services in the areas of asset optimization, networking, simulation, gas distribution and transmission, pipeline simulation and operations and software solutions would be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to think creatively and inspire others
