DLR Planning LLC is Hiring a Project Scheduler, P6 - Construction, Education Sector Near Los Angeles, CA

Job Title: Project Scheduler, P6 - Education

Who We Are: DLR Planning is a Women and Minority-owned CM/PM firm working in both the public and private sectors. We specialize on mega projects such as large event venues, infrastructure and education. Position Overview: We are actively seeking three qualified Project Schedulers to oversee and maintain program schedules for a variety of construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting construction drawings, reviewing contractor schedules, and ensuring contract compliance. You'll analyze schedule impacts, perform critical path and earned value analyses, and liaise with contractors. Additionally, you will serve as a liaison between project teams and department leadership, and assist with program status updates. Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from DLR PLANNING, LLC is required.

This is an on-site, long-term job. You must be located in Southern California. NO relocation funds, and NO per diem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain program schedules, identifying relationships, logic, milestones, and constraints for various construction projects.
  • Independently interpret and comprehend detailed construction drawings, spanning Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil, and other disciplines, to gain a clear understanding of work scope.
  • Review contractor's baseline schedule submissions, ensuring correct identification and logical sequencing of all work scope, and provide detailed written schedule review comments.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on contractor schedule submittals, examining critical path, cost loading, resource loading of man-hours, schedule content, recovery schedules, use of logic relationships, lags, constraints, and milestones for contract compliance.
  • Perform schedule Time Impact Analysis for change orders affecting the construction schedule, and engage in schedule negotiations with the Owner Authority Representative (OAR) and contractors for delay time settlements.
  • Evaluate drawings to determine if work is within or outside the scope, and understand contract terms and conditions to assess compensable or non-compensable time extensions.
  • Conduct Critical Path analysis and Earned Value analysis to monitor project progress.
  • Visit construction sites as required, checking the contractor's weekly/monthly schedule progress, and provide reports to the project OAR and upper management.
  • Effectively communicate with the contractor regarding all schedule/progress-related matters and concerns in weekly status meetings and other schedule-related meetings.
  • Regularly perform Program Schedule QA/QC reviews.
  • Update Program Schedules/Master Schedules on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Ensure the proper use of Program-level standard codes, layouts, and reports to maintain data integrity.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams, department leadership, and the Program & Project Controls department.
  • Prepare reports as needed and directed by management

Minimum Requirements:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years full time paid professional experience in Scheduling for an owner or General Contractor, preferably working on multiple educational facilities or public works projects
  • Proficiency in Primavera Latest Version and MS Office Suite

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to build efficient working relationships with project teams and department staff
  • Understanding of theories, principles and practices of cost engineering, scheduling and schedule forensics

Required Education:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.

OR

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree in any course, but with additional two (2) years of experience in Construction Scheduling to compensate for the required education.
