DKS ASSOCIATES is Hiring a Remote New Mobility Practice Leader

DKS is looking for an experienced leader to take on our New Mobility Practice. Our New Mobility practice helps our clients in the western states and Texas plan, design, implement, and operate technology that supports multimodal transportation projects. The ideal candidate is an expert in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and understands how technology can improve transportation and safety for people who walk, roll, and ride. .
This position will be diverse and includes leadership and management of the practice across the entire firm. Familiarity with technology design, modeling, data analytics, and operations would be beneficial. What will you be doing?
  • Leading the firm-wide New Mobility practice
  • Developing systems engineering documentation for complex projects involving transportation technology (e.g. projects involving connected or automated vehicles or shared use mobility). Includes feasibility studies, concepts of operation, functional requirements, system architectures, and system test plans.
  • Overseeing the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation or transit projects involving ITS/TSMO technologies, including communications networks
  • Facilitating technical conversations with information technology (IT) professionals for communications network architecture and design
  • Providing systems manager and construction engineering support for implementation of transportation technology projects (e.g. technology submittal reviews, verification/validation testing)
  • Overseeing the preparation of requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposals for clients for transportation system or technology purchases (e.g. advanced transportation management system, transit computer aided dispatch system, variable speed limit management software)
  • Assisting clients with innovative project procurement, such as grant writing, and delivery approaches
  • Strategizing and planning for ITS/TSMO/Smart Cities initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining relationships within the transportation technology industry (e.g. agencies, auto manufacturers, third party data providers/software developers, transit)
  • Actively participating in regional, state, or national committees or working groups aimed at advancing the state of the practice within transportation technology
  • Bringing innovation and creativity to expanding equity and sustainability in our projects and engagements
  • Training, mentoring, and coaching senior DKS employees
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or similar field (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Master’s Degree in related field, or equivalent experience desired
  • 12 years of experience in Transportation Industry, particularly in application of technologies
  • Strong business development acumen
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience on medium to large sized projects
  • Commanding presence with public speaking, client meetings, and public meetings
  • Leadership experience with the interest to coach, counsel, and influence others
  • Commitment to professional growth to support DKS core values

Salary Range:
Level 6: $168,630 - $194,565 per year
Level 7: $194,565 - $239,190 per year
