Community Engagement Project Manager
DKS is seeking a Community Engagement Project Manager with expertise in public outreach, communications, and strategic planning. This role will support our transportation planning and engineering practices and work directly with our Regional Lead of Community Engagement & Strategic Planning to grow our services and team. The ideal candidate is bilingual (Spanish) & passionate about meaningful community outreach and multicultural engagement.
What you will be doing:
  • Directly supporting and collaborating with our Regional Lead of Community Engagement & Strategic Planning
  • Managing Community Engagement projects, including developing and managing project schedules, scopes, and budgets
  • Mentoring employee owners in their professional growth and enhancing skills within the service area
  • Supporting the development of new clients and managing existing client relationships to win and deliver Community Engagement and Strategic Planning projects
  • Collaborating with teams across our nationwide offices
  • Interfacing with clients, agency staff, the public, and other interested parties
  • Developing and implementing public outreach and engagement plans, including socio-demographic data analysis
  • Researching past plans and policies to identify community issues
  • Developing policy and strategy documents
  • Preparing public-facing materials, including reports, memorandums, presentations, graphic summaries, etc.
  • Developing project website and community survey materials
  • Working directly with DKS staff, the public, teaming partners, and DKS clients to coordinate, schedule, and deliver community engagement (some are held during the evening or weekends) for transportation projects
  • Preparing meeting materials including agendas, notes, and summary reports
  • May travel up to 25%, depending on project needs

What are we looking for:
  • 10 years of experience in Community Engagement, including 5 years in the A/E consulting industry
  • (preferably in the transportation planning/engineering field)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or similar field
  • Desired (but not required) bilingual skills in Spanish
  • Experience in project management, including project oversight and training for junior level staff
  • Experience with community organizing or volunteering events
  • Ability to be at various sites and meeting events at various times during the day and evening, including occasional weekends
  • Highly organized
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in internet-based research skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • High comfort level using and managing video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, and GoTo Meeting

Salary Range
Level 5: $130,400 - $156,135 per year
