DIVERSITECH JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Inventory Control Lead

DEPARTMENT: Shipping

REPORTS TO: Shipping Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Control Lead is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy and integrity within the manufacturing or distribution facilities; to include cycle counting items in the warehouse, recording data either manually or via computer using established cycle count parameters/rules. This role will serve to maximize space utilization at the facilities as defined by operating SOP’s. The Inventory Control Lead (ICL) will also monitor all finished goods inventory levels and product movement, ensuring materials are accurately delivered to location, locations are properly marked. The ICL will be responsible for ensuring a conforming product mix, facilitating efficient order fulfillment, and contributing to a safe and orderly working environment. The ICL will be working with management team to improve inventory integrity and accountability. Provides front line supervision to the Shipping and Receiving inventory team. This position reports to the OCH Regional Manager, Shipping & Receiving.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

To provide leadership and guidance to all associates working in Shipping or the DC, in the areas of system integrity, inventory control, labeling, researching, UOM interpretation, return goods and repackaging. Ensure that the daily plan and instructions provided by management is being executed and on task. Proactively addressing habits, practices or behaviors contrary to the policies or instructions of the inventory operations/company. Leader in all related inventory initiatives and actions required in the warehouse.

  • Maintain Inventory Accuracy Metrics and associated reports for management and customers.
  • Coordinate inventory movement efforts across operational departments to enhance inventory accuracy.
  • Track, report and execute resolution/disposal of non-conforming aged and/or damaged product.
  • Ensure all product labeling requirements are executed to meet on-time (MSBD) shipping.
  • Regularly train site staff in proper inventory control techniques and practices.
  • Participate in daily staff SQDIP and operational meetings.
  • Responsible for overseeing physical inventories/cycle counts/random or receipt audits/reconciliations.
  • Determine root cause in support of the Order Error reporting network, work with manager to develop preventative measures
  • Research and Reconciles physical count to inventory records and when differences are found investigate the discrepancy.
  • If necessary, adjusts inventory to correct the errors in the system.
  • Responds to found inventory discrepancies during normal course of operations by investigating cause of discrepancy and take necessary corrective actions needed to provide product for filling customer orders.
  • Maintaining product identification and location program.
  • Audit liaison with Accounting firms doing quarterly and semi-annual counts


Customer Returns (RMA)

  • Receives and inspects returned items returned by customers due to item pick errors, overstocked items
  • Carrier frustrated freight returned due to customer refusal because of product damage and/or delivery issues.
  • Co-ordinates with Customer service and facility shipping personnel to reconcile method necessary to credit customer,
  • Return items back into inventory
  • Collaborate on freight claims with carriers for damaged products.


Product Salvage

  • Remove items damaged during facility operations.
  • Adjust inventory of items which cannot be salvaged.
  • Procure vendor packaging for repacking for items to be returned to inventory when necessary.
  • Prepare hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals which have salvage potential or need disposal to be returned to chemical facility
  • Communicate and suggest packaging changes to improve damages in transit
  • Address and foster good 5S principles that support reduction in material damage/write off deductions
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail. Must be a proactive “self starter” who can work well without supervision. Must have good communication and computer skills. Requires minimum 2 to 4 years’ experience in inventory control, Receiving and Bin management in a manufacturing environment. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Requires High school education.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Direction is given by Shipping Manager. Must interface with other hourly production team members. Will interface with transportation associates and external drivers / carriers. Must have a complete understanding of daily objectives and plans and be able to address and direct in business and operations rules, as well as staff in operation procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment. Seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical limitation, and capacity to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift typically a minimum of 20 lbs. but could be as much as 70 lbs., and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.
