Discovery Land Co. is seeking a Project Accountant to support the Discovery Building group. The ideal candidate will bring extensive professional experience and an adaptable outlook to our fast paced and changing environment. The Project Accountant will support all accounting functions for one or more of our Discovery Builder's projects. 

*NOTE: This is a hybrid role: 4 days in office/1 day remote*

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for accounting functions and management of processes and procedures for assigned project(s) in the Development and Construction Departments.
• Ensure financial operations of the Development and Construction Departments are compliant with company expectations, processes, and controls:
• Provide oversight and control of internal financial processes at the projects
• Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements for assigned construction project(s)
• Maintain and enhance knowledge and competency of company systems, i.e. Sage 300, Intacct, Titanium, etc.
• Resource for accounting and system processes and procedures
• Subject matter expert on use of Intacct accounts payable (including that specific to construction industry such as retention), job cost, billing, and contracts, and Titanium to a level of competency
• Audit project use of Intacct and Titanium and produce reports
• Responsible for project cash management (including reviewing and approving check requests, funds transfers, distribution analysis, recording cash receipts, etc.)
• Back-up for all accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks
• Review and approve monthly owner billings prepared by others
• Manage project deadlines for billings, month end close, etc.
• Oversee and review job close procedures
• Manage project compliance documents
• Perform duties to prescribed accounting deadlines
• Construction Schedule of Values
• GAAP/IFRS Accounting for Construction
• Construction WIP Schedules Management Accountability
• Prepare monthly reporting
• Timely reporting of material changes to management

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or University, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of construction accounting related work-related skill, knowledge and experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel preferred.
• Proficiency in construction related accounting software applications.
• Similar combination of education and experience.
