MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Support teacher development to foster student social-emotional development and behavior needs by modeling supportive and inclusive classroom culture and behavior strategies such as Restorative Practices, Trauma-Responsive Practices, and De-Escalation through using a gradual release structure, co-teaching, observation, and in-class coaching.
2. Plan, model, provide, and monitor interventions to students for behavior, using data-based decision-making.
3. Collaborate with school colleagues to plan, assess, and continuously monitor and improve student social-emotional and behavioral needs to close opportunity and achievement gaps.
4. Establishes school-wide ownership of each student having a "go to" adult or mentor in the building.
5. Ensures every student feels a strong sense of connectedness to and advocacy from adults in the school.
6. Cultivates family and community engagement in service of improving student academic, social, and emotional development.
7. Conduct needs analysis with building leadership to identify student, staff, and school-wide areas of behavioral and cultural strengths and opportunities to organize and implement strategies to improve student achievement and educator effectiveness.
8. Facilitate training and coaching in areas that include but are not limited to Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Practices, Neuroscience and the Brain, and Conflict Resolution.
9. Assist school social workers and teachers with the design and implementation of social-emotional curriculum.
10. Assist teachers in using data to determine adequate progress, develop student competencies, identify and group students for small-group and differentiated behavior interventions, and assess effectiveness of instructional strategies to increase student outcomes through the MTSS/RtI process.
11. Cultivates an equitable environment that values and empowers students through trauma-sensitive and culturally competent practices.
12. Creates an atmosphere of trust and collaboration with colleagues and families to increase student success.
13. Participate in school and curriculum programs at the school and district level.
14. Contribute a positive school culture by being an active participant in school faculty meetings and committees.
15. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
