CDS in Texas is seeking an “Authorization Coordinator” to help support our growing San Antonio, TX office.

Essential Tasks:

  • Retrieves authorizations from all assigned payors for services provided.
  • Reviews authorizations received to ensure that the proper coding (including modifiers) and coverage is obtained.
  • Works closely with Service Advisor(s) and the Billing Department on account updates and authorization activity.
  • Works closely with Service Advisor(s) on all denials and if necessary, obtains clinical information, ICD 10 coding, or other information necessary to correct erroneous authorizations.
  • Maintains various charts, records, and databases of patient authorizations.
  • Communicates with Authorization Lead any delays or other issues encountered when attempting to resolve an incorrect authorization.
  • Maintains a good working knowledge of authorization requirements for all payors and state/federal regulatory guidelines for coverage and authorization of services provided.

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in in billing and/or accounts receivable experience
  • Strong knowledge of all payer guidelines related to claim submission.
  • Knowledge and proficient with payer websites and other useful resources pertaining to the billing function.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding/terminology and insurance operating procedures and practices.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software.
  • Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy and 80% accuracy in Excel.
