DirtWorks Drainage is Hiring a Construction Foremen Near Louisville, OH

Job Description

Foremen are a point of reference for workers and supervisors. They are responsible for all aspects of the DirtWorks Drainage job and are a key person in the completion of projects. Must have leadership skills and be able to direct workers in the direction needed to get the projects completed in a timely manner and be able to dictate job progression with DirtWorks Supervisors and Clients. Foremen are responsible for completing, maintaining, and turning in all paperwork required by DirtWorks and our clients. Paperwork includes but is not limited to; Purchase Orders, Receipts, Green Sheets, Equipment Lists, Equipment/Vehicle Checklists, Job Safety Analysis Sheets, Emergency Contact Sheets, etc. Manage materials by deciphering supply quantities to get the project completed. Foreman, in communication with the Logistics Coordinator will facilitate in identifying equipment needs and mobilizing it to the site. Must also be able to act as the on-site Project Manager by keeping all parties involved updated on the scope, quality, and budget of the project. Foreman are expected to avoid fraternization with employees and act as resource to HR when needed to handle on-site write ups and performance assessments.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete understanding of field level management responsibilities on projects
  • Strong ability to dissect blueprints at a per-construction level and interpret designed specs
  • Strong ability to scout projects, per-construction, and develop a plan for beginning the work
based on contractor schedules, outage factors, and permitting issues.
  • Outstanding ability to coordinate the installation of any access need on the project from wetland crossing, timber matting, gas line crossings, stream crossings, bridges, E&S devices, Sensitive species exclusion zones, aggregate roads, culverts, water bars, broad based dips, rock checks, etc.
  • Outstanding ability to efficiently communicate on weekly project conference calls (i.e., explaining work that has been completed, work that is upcoming, projected timelines for completion of tasks, and reaction to scope change management)
  • Outstanding ability to interpret provisional lists and communicate with project management and real estate with parcel ID numbers.
  • Outstanding ability to recognize change order requests and track T&M accordingly.
  • Complete competency in tracking and reporting all company assets online, damages to, service needs, and asset transfers.
  • Outstanding ability to create schedule look a heads, when required, in two and three-week formats.
  • Outstanding ability to perform daily project tracking paperwork and input into tracking software.
  • Outstanding ability to interpret project permitting information.
  • Has had experience with multiple operating companies, project management entities, districts, sub-contractors, and jurisdictions.
  • Requires light to little intervention from the Superintendents to perform job responsibilities.
  • Exemplary attitude and willingness to help build up your crew and create more efficient workflow, processes, and dynamics.
  • Outstanding ability to communicate with all levels of leadership, including inspectors, and with other crews and lines of business.
  • Ability to help mentor and empower coworkers to help raise up future leaders while still holding people accountable.
  • Must exhume discipline and work with excellence everyday.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • A complete understanding of field-level management responsibilities on projects.
  • The ability to read blueprints at a pre-construction level and interpret designed specs; as well as understanding basic math principles.
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of leadership, including inspectors, other crews, and lines of business.
  • Must be able to coordinate the installation of any access need on projects from wetland crossing, timber matting, gas line crossings, stream crossings, bridges, E&S devices, sensitive species exclusion zones, aggregate roads, culverts, water bars, broad based dips, rock checks, etc.
  • A strong commitment to and understanding of industry safety procedures and standards.
  • The ability to help mentor and empower coworkers to help raise up future leaders while still holding people accountable.
  • The ability to confidently and professionally handle disciplinary actions on the jobsite in accordance with company policy to comply with HR standards
  • Must be able to recognize change order requests and track Time & Materials accurately.
  • Must be willing to travel within a multi-state area.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
  • Must be experienced in heavy equipment operation (excavator, backhoe, bulldozer, tracked carriers, etc.).
  • Must pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Must pass an acceptable background check


Ideal candidates will also possess:

  • The ability to create schedules in two and three-week formats, knowing that needs and assignments may change.
  • The knowledge and understanding of how to handle and/or oversee projects on a daily basis including planning and troubleshooting, tracking paperwork and inputting into tracking software.
  • Proven ability to scout projects, pre-construction development plans for beginning the work on projects and job sites based on contractor schedules, outage factors, and permitting issues.
  • The ability to assist project managers in communicating with land agents and landowners when required.
  • The ability to compile and communicate job status during weekly project conference calls (i.e., explaining work that has been completed, work that is upcoming, projected timelines for completion of tasks, reaction to scope change management, etc.)
  • Experience with multiple operating companies, project management entities, districts, sub-contractors, and jurisdictions.
  • The skills needed to track and report all company assets to the office using company apps and online software; including but not limited to damages, service needs, asset transfers, etc.
