Diocese of Austin Catholic Parishes is Hiring a Bilingual receptionist Near Manor, TX

Primary Responsibility :

The Receptionist is responsible for attending to visitors and dealing with inquiries on the phone and face to face from the public.

In addition, supplies information to the general public, parishioners and vendors. Maintains the Priest schedule and the Facilities Calendar.

Attends to Sacramental inquiries and Mass celebrations.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while consistently maintaining a cheerful, positive, professional attitude on the phone and in person.

Must be a quick learner that is able to follow directions accurately while multi-tasking and still be able to produce an excellent work product with a smile.

Must be a self-starter who is organized and detailed oriented. Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude.

Must have reliable transportation and be committed to being at work Tuesday-Friday 1PM to 6PM.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the faith and morals of Catholic ministry and the mission of St.

Joseph Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.

  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
  • Spend fifteen minutes during each workday in prayer before the tabernacle.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment across the Church campus.
  • Create an atmosphere of hospitality in the office and maintain reception area.
  • Greet parishioners and visitors and professionally assist them.
  • Answer phone inquiries
  • Register families for Baptism classes
  • Schedule Mass intentions
  • Manage facilities calendar
  • Sort mail and notify various departments of deliveries
  • Maintain a supply of church publications for distribution to the public, including the parish bulletin.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to other departments as necessary.
  • Administrative assistance to the Pastor
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, database programs and social media.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills

Minimum qualifications

  • A high School diploma or GED is required for this position.
  • At least 1 year of full-time wage-earning related work experience is required.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish are REQUIRED
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • May be required to lift, move or carry objects- up to 30 pounds
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Working Conditions :

  • All members of the Operations team must be ready to serve in the various positions.
  • The parish is an at-will employer.
  • All buildings and vehicles owned by the parish are tobacco free.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
  • Working on weekends, evenings and some holidays may be required.
  • Will be exposed to Roman Catholic Christian prayer, liturgical celebrations, conduct and speech.
  • Will be required to adhere to established dress code and conduct standards.
  • Traveling outside the parish to various events may be required. Use of personal vehicle to attend events is required. Overnight lodging may be necessary.
  • Ability to handle a varied work environment and an abundance of personalities and situations.
  • Maximum hours per week 20.
