Reporting to the Production Supervisor, Paint, this role is a full-time, hourly position scheduled Monday – Friday with the availability for overtime when necessary. The Painter I is a strong team player with a positive attitude, is willing to take direction as well as be a self-starter and enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position also possesses basic knowledge of handling hazardous materials and upholds basic cleaning standards of paint guns and work environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:

• Cleans and prepares products to be painted
• Selects and mixes specific colors using computer generated formulas
• Applies paint to various types of materials (i.e., metal, plastics, foam, etc.)
• Takes directions well and is also a self-starter
• Improves processes as necessary
• Works safely in and around a fabrication shop environment
• Enjoys working in a creative, problem solving manufacturing environment
• Fulfills other production duties assigned as needed

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Ability to be a strong team player with a positive attitude and a great work ethic
• Ability to work with little direction
• Knowledge of fabrication shop procedures

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• 1-3 years professional paint experience
• Experience with Matthews or Axalta
• Sign and/or automotive painting and Bondo experience is a must
• Experience setting up and operating paint equipment
• Experience spraying metallics and clear coats is a plus

• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl
• The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• Employee must be able to talk and hear

Due to our onsite Fabrication process, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
