Overview:

As a Bakery Support Specialist, this individual will be responsible for supporting and assisting the bakery production team to accomplish the day's production schedule. This includes cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, pans, tables, walls, and floors using approved chemicals and following established procedures. The role involves disassembling, sanitizing, and reassembling bakery equipment, operating dishwashing equipment, preparing pans for processing runs, disposing of waste, understanding chemical safety, and adhering to cleaning schedules.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use approved chemicals to clean and disinfect surfaces effectively.
• Disassemble, sanitize and reassemble bakery equipment as per standard operating procedures.
• Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize bowls, utensils, and pans.
• Prepare pans for the next processing run to ensure smooth operations.
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain cleanliness in the processing area.
• Understand the chemicals used and the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required when handling them.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks according to the cleaning matrix.
• Refill all cleaning supplies and PPE, including chemicals, towels, aprons, and hairnets.
• Monitor stock of cleaning supplies and PPE and report low inventory to the Bakery Supervisor.
• Set up the processing area for the next product efficiently.
• Follow proper sanitation procedures for handling food products to prevent allergen cross contamination.
• Assist Bakery production staff in production and packaging of products.
• Assist in additional cleaning and maintenance duties around the facility as needed.

• Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other bakery staff to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers regarding cleaning tasks and any issues related to sanitation and overall flow of the day.

Physical Demands

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• This position is in a warehouse and requires working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions. In addition, this position will require the individual to work within the hot bakery, flour dust, and at times, the cold bakery freezer.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand for long periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as use ladders or step stools. The employee will frequently lift and move objects up to 60 pounds.
