$61, 713.60/salary

The Engine Maintenance Foreman position is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities concerned with the acquisition of agriculture and automotive equipment and the operation, training, and repair of that equipment. As part of the Contract Operations Department, the Engine Maintenance Foreman supervises the development, planning, and execution of maintenance and operational training program for all assigned personnel. This person is required to develop and implement a preventive maintenance program of all major and minor equipment.

The key performance standards of this position are measured by the timely repair and maintenance of all company equipment and vehicles required to maintain the operation production schedules and standards within the Contract Statement of Work and Standard Operation Procedures.

Repair, Maintenance, and Operation Performance - 60%

  • Coordinates and performs equipment repair and maintenance services to obtain maximum utilization of that equipment and prevent operational delays.
  • Maintains a rotating 24 hours 7 day-a-week on-call schedule to ensure emergency or urgent repair services are addressed. Emergency or urgent work shall be determined by the Director of Operations.
  • Operates and inspects vehicles and equipment in order to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantles and rebuilds machines and electrical components.
  • Performs diagnostics on all equipment to evaluate the causation of breakdowns.

Administrative - 40%

  • Directs procurement of all types of company-owned and operated agriculture and automotive equipment and materials, supplies, and parts required to maintain that equipment and its facilities.
  • Coordinates activities of personnel conducting research and testing programs on agriculture and automotive equipment being considered for acquisition based on such factors as operational performance, costs of operation and maintenance, operational safety, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Reviews and submits staff proposals for modifications to vendors and manufacturers.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction to levels of the organization in the proper operation and safe usage of all equipment.
  • Constantly reviews methods to improve employee/operator productivity by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the state of the art agriculture and automotive equipment and their procedural usage.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) background check.
  • Evaluate and document employee's day-to-day performance as it relates to the operation and employee's productivity of assigned equipment.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to ensure the success of employees when assigning equipment.
  • Leads and trains employees in cleaning, lubricating, checking of fluids, and performing routine maintenance work on assigned equipment.
  • Supervises, reports, and controls any unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries in a timely manner to ensure prompt resolution.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent of Automotive Service Certified (ASC), Outdoor Power Equipment Certified (OPEC), Two and Four Cycle Engine Certified, to include hydraulic, diesel engine, and transmission training and/or equivalent.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of three (3) years prior experience as an agriculture equipment mechanic in a supervisory and/or trainer capacity.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the safe operation and use of grounds maintenance products and equipment.
  • Possess the ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate credential/background check as required by the contract.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record required.
  • Experience with federal contract processes and the business operation of an organization that serves the disabled is suggested.
  • Must possess strong communication and leadership skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as technical manuals, safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals; to write evaluations, routine reports, inventories, maintenance and repair schedules, standard operating procedures for equipment and maintenance.
  • Ability to interact, train, and direct employees on the proper operation, daily maintenance, and inspection of their assigned equipment.
  • Must project a positive and professional image to the public, co-workers, and Didlake clients.
