Position Title: Production Shift Lead

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt

Reports To: Production Planning Supervisor

Summary/Objective:

The Production Shift Lead tends complex automatic production machinery and equipment with the goal of maintaining high standards in safety, product quality, machine productivity, superior workplace organization, cleanliness, and teamwork along with leading the production team in these efforts.

Essential Functions:

• Enforce Safety procedures and policy compliance.
• Assist the Production Planning Supervisor in the daily management of off shift personnel.
• Ensure the completion and receipt of daily QC inspection Sheets.
• Maintain Panel line cleanliness.
• Identify operator training needs and review them with Process Supervisor.
• Communicate clear instructions to team members.
• Record and report production metrics to Planning Supervisor.
• Manage team members to be engaged during their shift.
• Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
• Maintain tool accountability and ensure the cages, drawers, cabinets, etc.. remain locked when not in use.
• Ensure building is secured and all equipment is shut down at the end of each day.
• Proper handling and mixing of chemicals and solvents related to the day to day operation of the equipment, maintenance and clean up procedures.
• Proper knowledge and use of powered and unpowered hand tools including but not limited to, wrenches, tape measures, screwdrivers, drills, routers, circular saw, table saws and the like.
• Machine set-up, operation, and clean-up, the use of powered support machinery (crane, fork truck, powered pallet jack, mixer, etc.), the use of powered and unpowered hand tools, the handling and mixing of various chemicals, and the use of solvents
• Abide by established Airxcel and Vixen Composites workplace policies on safety, attendance, standard operating procedures, and all other policies.
• Stay informed of the procedures and expectations.
• Perform other duties assigned.

  Work Environment: This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, cranes, forklifts, and production machinery. Noise such as warehouse equipment and machinery. Chemicals, solvents, and fiberglass related to the day-to-day operation; This list is not all inclusive.
  
  Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to speak and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, as well as use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; maneuver in and around machinery on a frequent basis. Must pass respirator fit test. The employee may be required to lift/move items of at least 50 pounds.

  • Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience with 6S
  • Knowledge and experience with HMIS and SDS
  • Knowledge and experience with measurement instruments such as scales, micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and calculators.
