Overview

Production Operator supports complex automatic production machinery and equipment with the goal of maintaining high standards of company policies in safety, product quality, machine productivity, efficiency and continual improvement, while maintaining superior workplace organization, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Abide by established corporate workplace policies on safety, attendance, standard operating procedures and any other guidelines. 
  • Reliable attendance and performance, willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • The ability to effectively interface with operators, supervisors, engineers, material handlers, maintenance, and others within the organization.
  • The ability to work well as an individual or as a part of a team.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and pride should be demonstrated at all times when working as a team or independently and in all aspects of the job.
  • A desire to learn and master all aspects of the position and machine operation along and applying a problem-solving aptitude in all aspects of the job.
  • The ability to work in, support, and contribute to a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to learn Lean Manufacturing and 5-S methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Strict adherence to company safety, operational procedures and policies.
  • Proper monitoring and operation of the machinery and various support processes based on training and documented operating procedures.
  • Machine set-up, operation, and clean-up, the use of powered support machinery, such as crane, fork truck, powered pallet jack, mixing equipment.
  • Proper knowledge and use of powered and unpowered hand tools including but not limited to, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, routers, circular saw, table saws and the like.
  • Proper handling and mixing of chemicals and solvents related to the day to day operation of the equipment, maintenance and clean up procedures. 
  • Assure the quality of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and finished products.
  • Cross-training of new and existing employees with the support of supervision, engineering, quality, etc.
  • Data collection, problem solving
  • Other duties are required at the direction of the Supervisor or Management.

Physical Requirements

  • Pass initial and safety driven drug screens
  • Must pass physical or gain doctors approval to wear a respirator
  • Occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs daily.
  • The ability to maneuver in and around machinery safely and on a frequent basis.

Education and Experience

Required:

Ability to read and comprehend safety and instructional documents

Knowledge and experience with standard hand and power tools

Desired:

Experienced set-up and operation of automated production machinery

Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing

Knowledge and experience with 5S/6S

Knowledge and experience with HMIS and MSDS

Knowledge and experience with measurement instruments

Scales, Micrometers, Calipers, Tape Measure, Calculator

Evaluations: Each new hire will be evaluated after 2 weeks of service; after 1 month of 

service; and then quarterly there after until their 1 year anniversary.

Level I Operator

Level one operator is where all new employees start out. While in Level I, the employee will be exposed to the basics of the line while in production as well as basic clean-up of the line after runs. Level I will also cover 5-S training. 

Production Duties

 Inserting boards during start-up

 Removing boards on west side of the puller as they come out

 Thread materials from a-frame to puller

 Cut panel after puller

 Unload part off of the conveyor and place on skid, Cleaning as you go

 Track material during run

Clean-Up Duties 

 Removal of bars after run

 Cleaning of racecar

 Cleaning baths

 Cleaning puller (will require being shown how to operate the puller)

 Empty trash

 Clean die and shims

Prepping Line

 Inserting baths 

 Inserting racecar

 Installing bars

Mon - Thurs 6 AM - 4:30 PM
