JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Nursing Manager, the Surgery Scheduler is responsible for obtaining the necessary authorizations required prior to surgery, coordinating surgical schedules for surgeons, communicating with hospitals and surgical centers on behalf of surgeons using those facilities, ordering/scheduling necessary images and blood work for surgeries, follows up with patients regarding appointments, referrals, orders, etc., for surgeries.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimal requirements include:

• High School diploma or equivalency diploma (GED),
• Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting. Appropriate certificate indicating passing grade for specific specialty if working in specialty department; e.g., pediatric medical assistant exam. OR Graduation from an approved nursing program PLUS LPN Board Certification
• 1-2 years of nursing experience
• MS Office preferably in Excel and Word; ability to work with limited supervision;
• EHR required, NextGen preferred
• Possess strong verbal communication skills, good organization skills and attention to detail

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
