Direct Supervisor: Superintendent
Qualifications: A heavy equipment operator is skilled at driving, controlling, and operating a set of equipment, such as trucks, construction or power equipment. This equipment is used in building work, distribution of construction materials, and in commercial and substantial disposal of waste materials. A heavy equipment operator ensures the movement and functioning of heavy machines in carrying out specific tasks. Equipment operators are responsible for ensuring that safety procedures are completely followed at all times. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education requirements.
Experience Requirements: A Heavy Equipment Operator will typically have 5 years of experience as an operator and possessing a CDL is preferred.
Tool Requirements: Applicants are required to have in their possession and maintain their own tools relevant to their job.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: good eye-hand coordination including usage of one or both left and right hands/arms to work bilaterally and/or independently to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects; normal or correctable to normal vision and hearing; ability to kneel, crouch, climb, balance, crawl, bend, stretch, twist, reach, stand, sit and walk on frequent basis; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on frequent basis. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
FLSA Status: This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay.
Wages/Benefits: Successful applicant will be paid a competitive wage with actual starting wage dependent on his/her qualifications, experience, and capabilities. Some benefits are available to full-time, regular employees after successful completion of the Introductory Period and these benefits will be explained at time of interview.
