DHCHD Brand is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Dalhart, TX

Job Description:

Responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance. Performs accounts payable duties involved in reviewing invoices, maintaining records, including but not limited to weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports. Assists the CFO in preparation of Audit and Cost Report spreadsheets and reports.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent; Associate’s degree in accounting, or related field required.
  • Personal Job-Related Skills: Typing speed of 45 wpm, operation of ten key adding machine/calculator. Familiar with operating personal computers and knowledge of general clerical duties. Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding employee compensation.
  • Licensure, Registry or Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
  • Experience: Prior Work Experience: At least two years’ experience in accounting or related field.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper GL coding.
  • Receive, record, and deposit cash, checks, and vouchers.
  • Reconcile records of bank transactions and reporting discrepancies found in financial records.
  • Monitor status of loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, monthly.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
  • Compute deductions for income and social security taxes.
  • Complete and submit tax forms and returns, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents.
  • Calculate costs of materials, overhead, and other expenses, based on estimates, quotations and price lists.
  • Assist the CFO to compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
  • Calculate and prepare checks for utilities, taxes, and other payments.
  • Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information
  • Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Hospital District
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Oral Communication — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words/sentences, and communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Written Communication – The ability to read and understand information/ideas presented in writing, and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • Mathematical Reasoning — The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
  • Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Physical duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
