ABOUT THE ROLE: Monitors compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws as well as company policies, notifies managers of potential issues and proposes corrective action. Prepares and preserves personnel records, organizational charts, accident records, training records, and other human resources data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and preserves personnel records, organizational charts, accident records, training records, and other human resources data.
  • Explains more complex aspects of company human resources programs such as salary and benefit administration, recruitment and placement, employee development, employee relations and services, equal employment opportunity, and/or labor relations.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, pre-offer, post-offer, and onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Administers employee benefit programs as well as leaves of absence and worker's compensation.
  • Fills out forms and/or verifies information on forms submitted by employees.
  • Identifies needs for modification or changes in personnel administration.
  • Maintains the company handbook and updates as necessary.
  • May research, analyze, and integrate data to provide information on human resources programs.
  • May survey employees to determine satisfaction with the recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Manage recruiting/staffing needs for all administrative and production workforce including: interviewing, advertising, referencing, drug testing, job offers, etc.
  • Assist corporate Benefits Department in administrating/communicating health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through HRIS System (UKG) to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Serves as a community liaison in marketing the company through high schools, higher education, and local labor departments.
  • Rolls out all HR initiatives including compliance matters.
  • Helps create Safety Training Materials.
  • Develops, supports, and partners regarding employee recognition and plant events/activities as needed.
  • Acts as liaison between employees and the Corporate Human Resources Department.
  • Report workers compensation claims within 48 hours and manage those claims within the company guidelines, working closely with the corporate Compliance Manager and corporate Safety Director. Ensure accurate documentation of all OSHA recordable injuries as required per regulatory requirements.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Facilitate Employee Relations meetings.
  • Conducts audits as requested by Corporate Human Resources.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans, and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as necessary.
  • Assists or prepares orientation activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a good attendance record as it is critical for success.
  • Demonstrate a good work ethic based on principles of honesty and integrity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in HR, Business, or related degree or equivalent professional experience as human resources generalist.
  • 1 – 2 years of relevant, related experience.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and unwavering attention to detail.
  • General computer application proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strict attention to privacy issues and absolute discretion required.
  • Strong analytical skills and an extreme attention to detail mindset.
  • Strong customer service orientation; comfortable working independently with all levels of employees.
  • Capacity to prioritize a variety of tasks and heavy volume of work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under the direction of several people at once.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills within a diverse office environment.
  • Bilingual a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of Human Resources Generalist function
  • Knowledge of Labor Relations fundamentals preferred
  • Strategic decision making and tactical human resources experience
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal, including presentations before small and large groups
  • Proficient with a personal computer - word, excel and power-point
  • Analytical thinking - problem solver that seeks best solution(s)
  • Team Player - works well with others and is capable of collaborating across regions & functions
  • Ethical and high compliance to institutional policies and standards
  • Strong sense of urgency and customer service
  • Ability to manage multiple issues at one time

Working Conditions

  • Capability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment including noise exposure, temperature fluctuations, and exposure to weather elements when required
  • Ability to work all hours including early morning, nights and weekends

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to physically perform the essential job functions for the position
  • Requires walking and sitting, to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
