Seeking LPN Staff Nurses: 7a-7p and 7p-7a rotating weekend. Full time and PRN positions available

Full time 12 hour shifts are guaranteed 8 hours of over time each pay period.

Job Description

To provide nursing care to the residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with established facility protocol, local, state and federal regulations. To lead and/or direct CNAs in the delivery of direct resident care.

Administrator, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assess the overall status of the residents and document in the medical record.
  2. Monitor the residents activity and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, local, state and federal regulations as well established facility protocol.
  3. Coordinate, prepare for and assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  4. Communicate with residents, family members, other disciplines and health care professionals regarding the status of the resident.
  5. Take and record vital signs.
  6. Administer medications and treatments and document accordingly.
  7. Schedule job assignments and duties for CNAs.
  8. Take report at the beginning of the shift in order to receive an update on the residents under your care.
  9. Be observant for changes in a resident ’s condition and notify the Supervisor (if applicable), physician and family.
  10. Visit all residents at various times during your tour of duty.
  11. Supervise, and assist with the feeding of residents and administer the tube feedings.
  12. Order medications from the pharmacy as indicated.
  13. Carry out all physician orders including making out lab slips, x-ray requests and MARs.
  14. Provide routine nursing documentation as per established facility protocol.
  15. Prepare resi dents for going on pass.
  16. Answer the telephone properly.
  17. Complete Incident/Accident Reports on all residents, employees and visitors as the need arises.
  18. Leave the nurse’s station and medication cart clean and well stocked for the on-corning shift.
  19. Count controlled drugs at the beginning and end of the shift.
  20. Report occupational exposure in accordance with established facility protocol.
  21. Be knowledgeable about and promote resident rights.
  22. Prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation in the elderly.
  23. Promote a safe, clean environment in which the residents may live.
  24. Check the Twenty Four Hour Report daily in order to be aware of changes in the residents condition and/or plan of treatment.
  25. Assist with 1YIDS and Total Care Plan meetings as indicated.
  26. Any other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing.
  27. Become a participating facility team member with the residents as first priority.

Educational/Licensure Requirements

Must be an L.P.N. or R.N. currently licensed and in good standing with the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
