Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

GENERAL DUTIES:
The Advanced Clinical Respiratory Care Practitioner provides complex patient care utilizing the most advanced concepts of Respiratory Therapy and patient focused care. The Advanced Clinical Respiratory Care Practitioner is actively involved with department protocols. He/she is a strong team member who acts as a resource as well as being involved with orientation and training of staff in the adult and pediatric care areas. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Perform point of care testing as ordered or per protocol. Attend deliveries and C/S as requested. Participate in transport team as assigned. Teach co-workers in didactic classes or in-services as appropriate. Develop and implement and document to the plan of care. Manage complex patients and participate in policy and procedure review and revision as directed. Manage patient on various ventilatory modes to include nasal cannulas, oxygen hoods, nasal CPAP, ventilators, high frequency ventilators, pneumogram machines. Document patient interventions and results. Administers medication prescribed by physicians according to policy. Knows actions, indications, contraindications, precautions, adverse reactions, dosages and routes of administration on all medications prior to administering to patient. Provide all respiratory support as assigned including intubation, ventilator, CPAP, hood, and cannula set up and maintenance and documentation. Attend high-risk deliveries including meconium, perform breathing treatments and assess pulmonary needs and make recommendations for therapy changes. Acts as a resource for nursing, respiratory and other disciplines on pulmonary aspects of patient care intervention. Acts as a consultant in complex patient care. Participates in department orientation by acting as a preceptor and mentoring others as assigned by department manager. Participates in Quality Improvement Program to improve quality of patient care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
1. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of California
2. Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care with 3 years acute care experience.
3. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
4. Completion of Desert Regional Medical Center’s intubation certification program.
5. Demonstrated competency at advanced Clinical RCP level.
6. At least 1 year employment at Desert Regional Medical Center in department.
7. NRP within 90 days of hire
8. STABLE

Preferred:
1. AA or BS degree.
2. Membership of professional organization. (i.e., AARC, NBRC)
Completion of Advanced Clinical Competencies is needed prior to applicant’s submission.

Pay Range: $31.34 Minimum - $42.13 Maximum an hour
