Child Development (TOSA) Teacher on Special Assignment Experience in child care center setting. AA in Early in Early Childhood education. Site Supervisor Permit and Lead Teacher experience is required, experience may substitute the requirement of the site supervisor permit. Objective: The position of Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), under the supervision of the Area Child Development Specialist will assist ECE teachers with literacy, math, science, and social-emotional strategies, as well as supporting with behavior issues in the classroom; as well as performs other related duties as assigned including assisting administrators as needed. The Child Development (TOSA) Teacher on Special Assignment will be responsible for the following duties: Assists individual teachers in implementing the curriculum in the classroom. Assist classroom teachers in designing and using a learning environment that supports the curriculum. Assist classroom teachers in diagnosing student difficulties and planning appropriate intervention and accommodation strategies for all students, including English Learners, students enrolled in speech service or other developmental services, and all students with diverse learning needs. Assists staff in implementing Desired Results and Ealy Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS). Assist classroom teachers with classroom routines, classroom management, discipline, and student engagement. Assist with assessment results and works with teachers to analyze data. Assist in preparing required documents for program compliance with state mandates. Provide professional development for teachers on instructional strategies and classroom practices. Attends DPA trainings, as well as state required trainings, or any other training related to their scope of work. Assists in monitoring of children with outside services. Assists with the coordination of Mental Health and Disabilities services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of an AA degree or more than 24 units in early childhood education/child development. Combination of education and experience may be substituted for education requirement. Must possess valid Commission on Teacher Credentialing Site Supervisor Permit at the time of application; Completion of coursework authorizing instruction of Infants and Toddlers. A minimum of 2 years Teaching experience and 2 Years Supervision experience, preferably with federal and/or state subsidized childcare program. Candidate must demonstrate computer literacy Knowledge of Title 5 and Title 22 regulations Physical clearance including tuberculosis screening required prior to assignment; Criminal Background Clearance and fingerprint clearance (state and national) required prior to start of employment.
