1.0 POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The basic function of the Counter Sales Person is to market Desert Hills Electric Supply, Inc. and its products to obtain valid material sales. This activity is to be conducted diligently in an effort to provide appropriate service for our customers to ensure the growth and profit goals of the Company, as well as, meeting the needs of those customers. 2.0 POSITION QUAILFICATIONS

Must have the resolve to maintain goals, objectives and underlying principals of the Company in spite of personality conflicts or individual personal concerns of employees, although common sense and appropriate compassion should prevail. He/she should have a heavy background and experience in the sales and marketing of electrical parts and supplies. Should be able to identify business opportunities and concerns with the ability to develop appropriate strategies to address each. This position requires a self-starting, motivated person who possesses strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain established standards of performance.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all the areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner. 3.1 Education:A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. He/she should be willing for additional training to sharpen any skill deficiencies.

3.2 Experience:Minimum of two years experience with responsibility for Sales and Marketing activities. Electrical supply sales experience is preferred.

3.3 Licenses/Certification:A valid driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance is required.

3.4 Skills/Knowledge:Must be able to perceive the needs of potential and current customers through conversational interaction and assist with translating those needs into reality, make most people feel comfortable in his/her presence, and be very people oriented. Must have the competence to assist in the planning and participate in the execution of marketing efforts to maintain business and has an overall grasp on future potential for Desert Hills markets. Must have a knowledge and understanding of Company policies and procedures, marketing techniques and trends, pricing and quoting the customers’ potential business.

Must be prudent, ethical, and credible and use good judgment. Must be goal-oriented, committed to the Company and its electrical materials and have the ability to meet any type of person(s) with confidence. Must be a team player with integrity and concern for the quality of Desert Hills services and staff members.

Must be able to perform routine business math calculations, prepare proposals for customers and understand and prepare statistical analysis. Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

In English he/she must be able to communicate verbally, read and write well enough to read and prepare proposals, to interact with all concerned or related to the business. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be PC literate, have the ability to work with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlooksoftware.

3.5 Physical:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Body Positions:The position requires sitting much of the time. Standing and walking up to two-thirds of the time is required. Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending, reaching and flexing the arms are required over one-third of the time, but bending the wrists and use of the hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals are required under one-third of the time.

Body Senses:Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and vision sufficient to readily identify details of customer specifications and other pertinent information. Vision must also be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms and back as necessary. Must hear and speak English well enough to conduct business over the telephone for moderate periods of time.

Strength:Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds on an as needed basis.

3.6 Mental:Must have the reasoning ability to understand pricing and competitive challenges. Must maintain focus and exercise controls that will result in objectives being timely and adequately met.

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

3.7 Working Conditions:This position will be working up to two thirds of the time indoors in a climate controlled, smoke free office environment, but occasionally requires the employee to be outside or in the warehouse. This movement will cause the employee to encounter varying temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be higher outside or in the warehouse.

Eight (8) to ten (10) hour workdays per normal five-(5) day workweek with occasional Saturday or weekend work, as well as, early and/or late weekday meetings with customers, vendors and staff personnel are required as needed. This position deals with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour
