Sales Consultant: Agriculture, Irrigation or Soil Amendments
We seek YOU – a motivated and experienced Sales Representative, who wants to drive the sales of our unique innovation, Liquid Natural Clay (LNC), to help growers and farmers overcome the growing challenges of droughts, water scarcity, and soil degradation by enabling resilient, sustainable, and profitable agriculture in the U.S. Southwest with the initial focus on Yuma and Southern Arizona. 
Our vision is to make the earth green again by stopping and reversing desertification and soil degradation. LNC, turns degraded land and sand into fertile soil and, at the same time, reduces the water usage for agriculture, trees, and green ecosystems by up to 50 percent. 
By joining Desert Control Americas, you will be part of the innovative and exciting ag-tech solution, as we build the foundation to transition from a start-up to a scale-up in the U.S. Our strategic scope is to focus on Arizona, predominantly Yuma and Maricopa, with the ambition to grow our business into other states such as California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas over time. 
WHO IS THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE? 
You have natural skills to establish strong relationships with field personnel, peers, and customers. You thrive in a dynamic work environment where being part of a growing multinational ag-tech business inspires and triggers you to excel. You are autonomous and driven by solid sales acumen, and you can show documented commercial success. The position will guide and help customers to improve soil water holding capacity, and potential added benefits such as improved retention of nitrogen and vital nutrients, in the root systems of permanent crops (trees) and other open field crops. The successful candidate creates, develops, and maintains profitable customer relationships as Desert Control grows within the defined sales territory. 
Key skills and abilities include: 
  • Establishing strong and sustainable relationships with field personnel, peers, and customers 
  • Knowledge of permanent crops (trees), open field crops, and agricultural production is an advantage 
  • Applying a positive and proactive mindset to inspire and influence 
  • Thriving in a dynamic work environment with multiple tasks and activities 
  • Used to work autonomously and be self-driven with minimal supervision 
  • Proficiency with MS Windows and applications 
  • Capability to travel by vehicle to cover the defined territory 
  • Being used to a diverse work environment, including office and field work, to close sales 
Key personal attributes include: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Viticulture, or Business-related field is preferred 
  • 3-5 years’ commercial sales experience in the Agricultural or Viticultural industry (preferred) 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a great attitude and integrity 
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, communicating with ease irrespective of small or large groups 
  • Structured, detailed, and accurate
  • Strong business acumen 
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes extensively 
  • Get the job done” attitude 
  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented 
Specific responsibilities and key deliverables include: 
  • Achieve sales results from lead identification to closed deals and onwards to ensuring positive customer references that become ambassadors for Desert Control 
  • Identify new customers, understand their business, assess their needs, and develop plans and actions for project execution (production and application of LNC) in a growing market 
  • Documenting and reporting sales activities, including initiatives, objectives, strategies, and action plans for the region 
  • Serve as point person to manage support in the territory, including after-sales activities such as data capturing and monitoring services. 
  • Responsible for the sales territory of Yuma/Maricopa, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis 
  • Follow payment and credit policies and define risk for the company 
  • Develop annual business plans that optimize growth and profitability for the territory 
  • Implement marketing, communications and sales plans 
  • Establish and meet sales goals 
  • Network with industry representatives to expand sales opportunities 
  • Build product and market knowledge to add understanding and credibility 
  • Support the Desert Control team to attain performance goals 
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-organized training to develop and advance skill set and knowledge base 
  • Become primary contact between customers and Desert Control Americas, including deliveries, forecasting, credit, complaint handling, after-sales service, etc. 
  • Present a professional image to our customers in all interactions (verbal, digital, and face-to-face) through personal appearance and overall demeanor 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Desert Control Way management in a professional and efficient manner
