JOB IDENTIFICATION:

Job Title: Personal Trainer- Prairie Lakes

Grade: Specialty - $25.00-$40.00

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Department: Recreation

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Athletics & Facilities Manager

BASIC FUNCTION: The responsibilities include the planning, organization and implementation and sales of personal training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Conduct fitness analyses in accordance with adopted guidelines, policies, and procedures
  2. Maintain personal training sessions in written form
  3. Records and submits accurate payroll cards
  4. Assist personal training participants and maintains safe exercise environment for all participants
  5. Offer a comprehensive balance of fitness training for all ages and interest areas of the community
  6. Attend Personal Training meetings, facility meetings and park district meetings
  7. Attend approved continuing education seminars and workshops
  8. Engage, initiate relationship with members
  9. Participate in orientations as needed for new members
  10. Adhere to established policies and procedures in instructing classes and small groups
  11. Communicating to clients need to re-purchase, cancelation policy
  12. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with staff members, maintenance personnel, administrative personnel, and general public
  13. Assist guests in a professional manner. Provides information in response to public inquiries and directs specific inquiries to other staff as needed
  14. Responsible to uphold the District’s commitment to safety, promptly reporting accidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor, and complying with the District’s safety policies

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Provide for reasonable accommodations for participants and personnel in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act
  2. Attend professional conferences, seminars, workshops, and/or classes to remain current on trends and innovations in the field of parks and recreation.
  3. Direct patrons in the event of an emergency such as severe weather or fire
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  5. Report maintenance needs as observed.
  6. Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Experience: 1 – 3 years’ experience in personal training or related fitness field required

Certifications: Requires one of the following certifications: ACE, NSCA, NASM, ACSM or any other NCAA accredited certifications

First Aid, CPR and AED certification required within 6 months
