TITLE: Stationary Engineer 3/Mowing Crew

Chief Class 3/Mowing Crew, Building Chief

8 Hour Day

BASIC FUNCTION:

Perform grounds and stadium work and, custodial work at assigned buildings. Responsibilities may include mowing, trimming, overall grounds and landscape care, snow removal and sidewalk safety, minor repair and maintenance of district facilities and equipment, custodial duties, window and floor care. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Mowing, trimming and overall maintenance of school grounds and stadiums.
  2. Ability to use all hand and power equipment.
  3. Ability to paint lines on game fields in a timely manner for sporting events as scheduled.
  4. Properly care for all equipment and follow regular maintenance schedule.
  5. Ability to apply herbicide and fertilizer.
  6. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  7. Effective verbal and written communication; emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  8. Report any damages to equipment, grounds and stadiums in a timely manner.
  9. General custodial duties, not limited to hard floor care, snow removal and sidewalk safety, windows and removal of debris.
  10. Minor repair and maintenance of district facilities not limited to carpet and ceiling tile replacement and touch up painting.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):

  1. Adhere to all District policies and procedures, and department work rules.
  2. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  3. Maintain confidentiality.
  4. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
  5. Assist with other duties as may be assigned. 

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience

1. Commercial applicators license Category 3OT (Ornamental and Turf) (or ability to obtain as scheduled)

2. Three years (3) custodial services or grounds and landscaping experience.

3. Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record always aligned with District guidelines.

4. Proven ability to drive a truck and trailer.

5. Ability to work various work schedules depending on weather conditions and time of year. a. April - November (Approximately 7:00AM – 3:30PM) b. December – March (Approximately 2:00PM – 10:30PM)

6. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
