Medical Receptionist Job Description

Dermatology Associates, P.C., a well-established and highly respected dermatology practice in Birmingham, MI, has an opening for a Medical Receptionist position!

We offer a pleasant, collaborative work environment where the staff nurture and support each other. A future employee should be professional, warm, and welcoming. Candidates should be detail-oriented and comfortable with technology. Experience is welcomed, but not necessary.

Job Summary:

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or health care professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way and undertake administrative duties when not following the Receptionist role.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors either in person or via the telephone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors, answering the telephone and answering any inquiries.
  • Scheduling appointments and keeping those appointments on time.
  • Scheduling correctly for each provider.
  • Assisting patients with completing necessary forms and documentation.
  • Keeping a clean and calm reception area.
  • Processing billing and payments, using medical software.
  • Answering billing inquiries.
  • Faxing, scanning, filing, emailing and mailing documentation.
  • Comforting distressed patients – this may range from simply fixing any appointment issues that may arise, through to being the voice of comfort during times of extreme frustration and/or emergency.
  • Monitoring and ordering stationery and office supplies.
  • Maintaining information confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaison between Drug Reps and medical staff.
  • Understanding and communicating the billing statements to patients.
