Department Public Health is Hiring a PUBLIC HEALTH MEDICAL OFFICER III Near Costa, CA

Job Description and Duties

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing clinical consultation in support of the Genetic Disease Screening Program (GDSP).
The incumbent works under the administrative direction of the Public Health Medical Administrator II, C.E.A. The Public Health Medical Officer (PHMO) III provides guidance to staff on emerging genetic, obstetric, and pediatric issues, and plans and organizes medical consultation for the identification, development, and implementation of best practices and standardized guidelines to support GDSP clinical and research programs.

Who May Apply

Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s). Temporary Appointments may be considered if conditions warrant. Ability to:
Plan, organize and direct special projects and investigations in the fields of public health genetics or preventive medicine; secure the cooperation of and work effectively with individuals and agencies; conduct educational programs; speak and write effectively; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; effectively contribute to the department's affirmative action objectives.

Possession of
: a valid certificate issued either by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Family Practice, the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the American Board of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Board of General Practice, the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, or the American Osteopathic Board of Preventive Medicine, or current eligibility for examination for one of those certificates as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the Board.

Temporary Authorization Utilization (TAU)
