Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is Hiring an OFFICE TECHNICIAN (GENERAL) Near San Diego, CA

Job Description and Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is recruiting for one permanent, part-time Office Technician (General) in the Business Operations Office (BOO) within the General Services Unit (GSU). This position will be responsible for the day-to-day mail room operations; including but not limited to receiving incoming mail, operating mail equipment, and coordinating with external vendors for equipment maintenance and repairs.
The position is located in the San Diego office and may require the incumbent to be in the office five days a week. If you possess strong customer service skills and have a passion to help people, then this position may be for you.

Department Information

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. The DFPI offers benefit packages, competitive salary, a robust training program and opportunities for advancement.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Six months of experience with mail-room operations.
  • Six months of experience creating inventory systems, receiving purchases, and coordinating with external vendors for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Six months of experience in a customer service working environment.
  • Experience with handling multiple changing priories in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience or familiarity with FI$CAL.
  • Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable with good attendance.
