Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-05: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following:

* Greet visitors and respond to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate;

* Maintain written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; and/or

* Use word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.

* OR-

Successful completion a bachelor's degree or four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

* OR-

Combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

For the GS-06: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing one or more of the following:

* Provide support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions;

* Reconcile purchases and maintain files in accordance with Federal regulations and agency directives;

* Process incoming and outgoing mail;

* Establish and maintain the unit's files, accountable property inventories, records, etc. (hardcopy and/or electronic format); and/or

* Use automated software to produce reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form.

* OR-

One full year (18 semester hours) of successfully completed graduate level education if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business Administration).

* OR-

Combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.

Work Experience: Your resume must clearly document the following for each block of work experience; the beginning day, month and year the work assignment started and ended; the hours worked per week; position title, and series and grade if applicable; and description of duties performed. This information must be provided for each permanent, temporary, or seasonal appointment/work assignment or volunteer work and should be clearly documented as a separate block of time. Incomplete, inaccurate, or conflicting work history may not be credited for qualifications purposes. This can result in an applicant not being considered for the position.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
