SPECIALIST, FAMILY ENGAGEMENT (JOB ID: 66024)

Salary Range: $54,018 - 64,822

Essential Functions and Objectives:
Works to engage, involve, and inform community partners and school staff about family-school engagement research-based best practices to increase engagement in and understanding of community and family engagement programs, including, but not limited to, training sessions, coaching, and serving as a thought partner. Coordinates meaningful, engaging events, such as engagement events, industry summits, and recognitions/celebrations in collaboration with the team, department, district, and community.
  • Strategizes and executes the vision of current and ongoing family engagement work and supports the department’s mission, goals, and district initiatives; provides thought partnership and consulting to schools, especially those without a family liaison and external departments in developing culturally effective communication and engagement plans for projects and initiatives.
  • Supports creation and revision (as necessary) of toolkits and other content on best practices in engaging families; provides thought partnership and consulting to FACE department teams.
  • Promotes visibility and participation by representing the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department at community-focused events, including fairs, info sessions, and expos; provides support during engagement and outreach initiatives for the department and amplifies engagement for existing programs; effectively encourages families and community members to participate in community initiatives; and organizes and runs program events, coordinating logistics, including transportation, budget, food/snacks, recruitment, and volunteer supervision.
  • Works closely with district teams to develop and implement a plan to better connect and engage with families and inform them about FACE programs and district-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborates with schools and community leaders by email, phone, text, and face-to-face and supports other marketing initiatives and communications campaign development and execution.
  • Supports communications, as needed, which may include grant writing, copywriting for internal or external newsletters, designing information materials, and identifying and recognizing outstanding family and community achievements with written and video stories.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
  • Two (2) or more years experience doing family-school or community engagement related work.
  • Two (2) or more years experience working in a K-12 education system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides.
  • Strong understanding of research-based family-school engagement.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and can work independently once given direction.
  • Works collaboratively with others within the team, department, district , and community.
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.
  • Willingness to be certified to drive a 15 passenger activity van for events.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience with public speaking and/or on-air interviews with proven ability to both facilitate and participate in conversations with a variety of different audiences (student, teacher, business professional, family, etc.).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Consent Decree Language) preferred
