About this job:

Assists in the development and coordination of multiple complex project schedules, production budgets and logistics of safety training operations; oversees complex projects to achieve results in a timely and cost effective manner by providing direction, facilitation and control of resources.

What You'll Do:

  • Develops and monitors annual and long-range safety department training programs. Directs the design and distribution of surveys, interviews and questionnaires for conducting training needs assessment
  • Oversees the research, development and delivery of a comprehensive program of training courses. Coordinates instructor scheduling, facility availability and associated budgets.
  • Supervises/assists in the production and distribution of various publications (e.g., training reports, calendar schedules, workbooks, instructional guides, newsletters, etc.)
  • Directs the preparation of comprehensive reports (e.g., staff studies, evaluations, needs assessments, grants solicitations, etc.) to document events or specific needs
  • Remains current in Job Specific procedures in order to apply the most appropriate methodologies by attending conferences, education programs and seminars, reading professional publications, using the internet and participating in professional organizations
  • Confers with University and College officials and other professional training personnel to define curricula for training programs for college class credit
  • Supervises/assists in the production and coordination of trainings and training requirements (e.g. training manuals, videos
  • Maintains current knowledge of Dept. of Safety procedures as well as District policies to ensure DPS is leader in K-12 Education.
  • Maintains District inventory of Training supplies and associated budget
  • Reviews training materials and provides annual updates
  • Instructs/teaches/facilitates training programs
  • Identifies, develops and monitors the use of subject matter experts who provide curricular and instructional content of training courses
  • Must be self-directed and posses the ability to work independently
  • Works closely and effectively with all members of the Safety Department, its partners and stakeholders
  • Work experience in private or public law enforcement or security, military, FEMA, CEMA or other emergency management organization
  • Experience in training presentation and delivery
  • Operate and use general office equipment and supplies, telephones, personal computers, related software and equipment (e.g. printer). Operate audio-visual equipment required for training presentations
  • Will oversee and supervise internship and apprentice programs and their participants

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum Associate’s or 2 years in relevant work experience in criminal justice, security, management, education, or closely related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required licenses issued by the County and City of Denver and/or a Denver Police Special Police Officer Authorization
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License; Driving record must meet District's insurability requirements at hire and during employment
  • CPR/First Aid Certification and successful completion of NIMS Incident Management (IS) courses required within first 6 months of employment; Must maintain all certifications
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
  • Work collaboratively with others on a team
