Overall Objective: Create a world-class CC counseling program at Denver Christian School that includes college/career guidance and “calling preparation.”
Average of 20 hours a week or 2.5 days a week.
College/Career Counseling Responsibilities
Ongoing Responsibilities
Provide college and career counseling to students; meet with parents upon request to guide in college/career planning.
Meet with parents/students of each grade (whole group) to discuss grade specific steps for college/career planning.
Lead a college night for high school students (and parents)
Work with a team to host a College Fair (Youth4Christ or NACCAP).
Develop/maintain a College/Career Planning Guide (digital and/or hard copy) for each grade.
Develop/maintain a College/Career website with resources for parents/students including links to the following information:
College Financial Aid (FAFSA)
Test Preparation ACT/SAT/CLT
College Acceptance List
Scholarships
Handle mail from colleges, scholarships, and other organizations and distribute/promote as appropriate.
Maintain an active bulletin board to display college/career information for students.
Write recommendation letters as requested from students.
Provide a monthly email to junior/senior parents about scholarships/college/career information, summer programs, etc.
Arrange college rep visits over lunch, virtual visits, and VR experiences.
Serve as the liaison between the armed forces and the high school students.
Support Career Academies
Assist with student internships.
Connect with lead teachers in academies.
Oversee the SCOIR online platform, providing monthly touchpoints for students during advisory or office hours.
Attend a College/Career Counselors conference each year (NACCAP or ??).
Register and administer the high school standardized testing program:
9th - ACT Tessera
10th - CLT10; PACT
11th - PSAT/NMSQT, ACT, SAT
12th - AP and ACT, SAT, CLT
Organize/lead a career fair yearly (in conjunction with ms).
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's required,
Master's in college/career counseling preferred.
