Dental Associates of the Southwest is Hiring a Dental Assistant Near Durango, CO

Well-established dental office in beautiful Durango, Colorado; looking for an experienced chairside dental assistant. You should be a; well-organized, team player, with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible. Willing to train.

Responsibilities

  • Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
  • Sterilize instruments according to regulations
  • Assisting the dentist
  • Provide oral hygiene and post-care instructions
  • Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
  • Schedule appointments
  • Maintain accurate patient records for lab cases
  • Maintain accurate records for supply orders

Skills/Requirements

  • Proven experience as dental assistant (working interview)
  • Proof of Immunization record and/or Antibody record for (hepatitis B, MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) varicella (chickenpox), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
  • Must have x-ray certification
  • Ability to confidently assist chairside
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations
  • Ability to confidently pour/trim models
  • Ability to confidently fabricate Essix retainers and bleaching trays
  • Experience with Dentrix and Kodak
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Well-organized and reliable
  • High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred [willing to train the right candidate]
  • Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
