Delorio Foods Inc. is Hiring a Quality Assistant - 1st Shift Near Utica, NY

Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Team is responsible for ensuring that work in progress and finished products meet the established safety and quality standards set by the company to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Duties include maintaining strong overall quality control of products made by the company, adhering to company standards and expectations. Inspection of products and processes with the obligation to report and document findings to relevant management. Duties also include the evaluation of production, storage, and handling environments to make sure conditions meet safety and regulatory requirements and advise relevant and responsible parties in a professional manner when these standards are not met.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

· Analyze work in progress and finished product samples for quality, durability, safety and known product specifications both during production and postproduction.

  • Evaluate the materials routinely used during production, the work environment, and components during production by running specific tests and inspections.
  • Seek answers and information regarding customer or in-house problems with product quality or performance by investigating all parts of the production process.
  • Document quality assurance practices by recording data on corresponding records, noting information in computer databases, and recording actions taken when non-conformances are observed/found.
  • Ensure that during all parts of the production schedule that the product meets all guidelines related to federal, state, and local regulations that pertain to the industry.
  • Professionally communicate with management and other team members when problems arise and offer possible solutions to help correct any mistakes during manufacturing.
  • Assess quality assurance strategies periodically to determine best practices and improvements that could lead to fewer problems and interruptions in the production process.
  • Conduct Metal Detector functionality verification checks.
  • Perform Thermometer, Flour and other calibrations as outlined by the company.
  • Conduct allergen and gluten testing per the company’s standard operating procedures.

· Maintain sample retain and testing program.

· Assist with all regulatory compliance programs as deemed appropriate.

· Promote good manufacturing practices and a positive food and human safety culture with fellow staff and leadership.

· Assist other departments as needed.

· Follow the company’s Non-conformance standard operating procedure.

· Keep all QA areas clean in accordance with Good Housekeeping practices, GMP’s and Sanitation standards.

· Serve as a mentor to new employees.

· Conduct sifter tailing checks as outlined in the company’s standard operating procedure.

· Enforce company standards regarding safety, quality, and operational efficiencies.

Job responsibilities include those listed above as well as additional tasks as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.34 - $19.56 per hour
