General Description of the Position Perform a variety of clinical and support functions to support the day-to-day operations in the department of Campus Health Services.
Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
- Assist clinical staff, as needed (prepare patients for exams, obtain and record vitals, perform POC tests, patient follow up).
- Maintain exam rooms (stocking, inventory, cleaning, medical waste, etc.).
- Collaborate with team members to provide a smooth and efficient flow of patients.
- Schedule patient appointments according to the established hours of service.
- Assist patients with the scheduling of medical appointments and transportation arrangements for medical referrals.
- Provide exemplary customer service.
- Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner; respond to patient voicemail messages promptly.
- Monitor incoming emails and respond in a timely Manner.
- Assist with reviewing health forms and follow-up with students.
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures, medical administrative procedures, medical terminology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health insurance policies, claims processing, coding, and billing procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing health care records as well as applicable federal and state laws for working with students.
- Must be HIPAA and FERPA compliant.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications in a variety of settings including stressful situations.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills and initiative.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software and electronic health records.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
- Demonstrated ability to carry the duties of the position with limited direction.
- Well-developed human relation skills to work effectively and cooperatively with professional staff, students, and other customers,
- CPR certification
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
Qualification Standards l. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Medical Assistant Certification
