General Description of the Position

The Account Analyst II performs a wide-range of financial related responsibilities within the Division of Finance and Administration. Account Analysts are responsible for receiving, verifying, and processing invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements related to accounts payables in a timely and efficient manner. The Accounts Payable department is a high-volume work environment responsible for monitoring the outflow of the capital for the University. The incumbent reports to the AP Specialist.

Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

  • Perform day-to-day data entry of financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.
  • Accurately review documentation, code, reconcile and process vendor invoices, which may include verification of tax status, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Research returned checks
  • Evaluate all check requests and monitor accuracy of payments and process credit statements and invoices
  • Respond to vendor inquiries via email and/or phone
  • Process reimbursement requests and expense reports
  • Assists and supports in the annual audit functions
  • Understand and respond to basic duties within the Accounts Payable department to assist when necessary, including providing information and answering the telephones
  • Perform other accounting, administrative support, and customer service duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in English and MS Office
  • Understanding of expense accounts and cost centers
  • Understanding of compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W9, Sales, Tax, etc.)
  • Self-directed and dependable team player

Qualification Standards

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field or high school diploma with three years of equivalent combination of education
  • Two years of experience using MS Office, Banner, or similar systems
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills for a diverse population of stakeholders, to include assessing the needs of the customer; meeting established quality standards for service, and exercising creative techniques, critical thinking skills, and sound judgment to resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Proven track record of meeting performance/productivity goals on a consistent basis, with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail demonstrated in all phases of work.
