Position: Paraprofessional Full-Time – Educational SupportLocation: Ross ElementaryReports To: PrincipalStarting Date: February 2022Qualifications:- High School Diploma and Passing Paraprofessional Assessment or
- Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning and accumulating at least 60 credits or
- Associate’s degree or higher
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position including but not limited to:
- assisting students with mobility and transitions.
- ability to lift 50 pounds.
- ability to push or pull 50 pounds.
Experience working with students who receive special education services preferred.
Performance Responsibilities:Assists in a variety of instructional activities with an individual or groups of students as assigned.
Supports reading instruction across all grade levels and as assigned.
Records data on individual students as assigned and in regards to IEP goals.
Assists in adapting/modifying instructional activities and materials.
Adjusts instructional style in response to student needs, ability or developmental level.
Reinforces subjects and behaviors taught by the teacher. Responds to student behavioral needs in ways which are appropriate and respectful to the student.
Monitors activities and behavior of children to ensure their physical and environmental safekeeping, as well as adherence to appropriate conduct and disciplinary controls.
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
Assists teachers in checking and objectively evaluating progress; teaches children individually and in small groups reinforcing skills based upon instructional guidelines.
Works with students who receive special education services and is sensitive to the specialized needs of these students.
Participate in professional growth activities.
All other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: 7.5 hours/day - 185 days per school year. Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule.
Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
