    POSITION:
    DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON MIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL SECONDARY MATH #16177
    LOCATION: District Wide position for the 2022-2023 school year
    (May be filled as a Chair or Co-Chair)

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in a content area (e.g. math, science...)
    • Master’s Degree, preferred
    • Three or more years successful teaching experience
    • Experience developing and delivering various professional development i.e. seminars, interactive work sessions, small group and one on one coaching
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, school administrators and central office staff
    • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning
    • Knowledge of strategies to increase student engagement
    • Knowledge of instructional differentiation strategies
    • Indebt understanding of district-wide and statewide initiatives
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Proficiency in the Math Common Core and participation in New Math textbook adoption process.
    SALARY: EPER Salary Scale
    MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month position
    JOB GOAL: To support effective teaching and learning in CSD secondary schools. To lead the district’s vision to implement a continuous improvement model focused on maximizing student achievement through instructional leadership.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Demonstrate commitment to the district vision and mission by communicating and supporting the instructional focus
    • Serve as a model of professionalism
    • Collaborate with District Administrators and Instructional/Curriculum Coaches on planning and implementation of various District-wide Curricular initiatives (K-12)
    • Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Administrators to identify annual objectives for the Content area
    • Plan and facilitate monthly meetings of Department Chairpersons in the Content Area to communicate curricular issues and coordinate the implementation of annual objectives. Meetings will cover district initiatives as they relate to content area:
    o Review and analyze District achievement data in the Content area and identify key strengths and potential opportunities to improve curriculum
    o Identify professional development needs in the Content Area
    o Assist with Common Core professional development
    • Gather feedback and provide timely input in the review and revision of curriculum materials, pacing guides, and instructional materials
    • Coordinate the ordering of textbooks and instructional materials in the Content Area at a district level*
    • Coordinate the distribution and inventory of textbooks and instructional materials in the Content Area at a district level*
    • Ensure that Department Chairs and Content Area Teachers are aware of curriculum changes/revisions, and know how to access materials, pacing guides, and other instructional materials
    • Serve as a member of the Core Curriculum Team for the Content Area
    • Serve as a resource for teachers who need assistance in the Content Area
    • Serve as a resource for teachers who need assistance with strategies for the remote learning environment
    • Organize and lead Summer Math Packets
    • Assist with Articulation Projects for Higher Education
    • Demonstrate leadership in common core implementation and whole child development
    • Coordinate district parent information nights
    • Coordinate content related district-wide competitions
    • Serve as a member on the STEM Committee
    • Attend designated Board Meetings to present information
  • Department Chairs complete the building level work
  • Attendance at monthly meetings is pivotal to the effectiveness in this role
