Position: Chief CustodianLocation: Mispillion ElementaryReports To: Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds and PrincipalStarting Date: As soon as mutually agreeableQualifications:- High school diploma or GED
- Possess or be eligible for Chief Custodian certificate preferred
- Previous experience as a custodian or in housekeeping or maintenance preferred
- Repetitive daily heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs. at heights up to 4 feet
- Climb a ladder up to 15 feet
- Perform general manual labor as required to maintain school property
Performance Responsibilities:- Lead the custodial team and coordinate with building administration and the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds to ensure a clean and safe school environment for students.
- Complete yearly evaluations of all custodial staff.
- Assume responsibility for regular building checks to include weekends and holidays.
- Facilitate evening events at school facility. This includes all sporting events, performances and other events outside of regular work hours.
- Secure building at end of day.
- Respond to alarms and emergency events at the school building outside of regular work hours.
- Perform daily building checks to include weekends and holidays.
- Assist in the development of the building budget.
- Schedule and assign work for all school custodians.
- Assist in selection of new custodial staff.
- Establish system of inspecting building/grounds for cleanliness, safety and maintenance.
- Assume responsibility for all custodial assignments, scheduling, leave requests and related record-keeping.
- Perform minor maintenance repairs and troubleshooting of equipment problems.
- Perform custodial duties as assigned including but not limited to: scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, trash collection, etc...
- Communicate daily in a professional manner.
- Respond to district-wide custodial duties as required by Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds (ie: snow removal).
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Twelve Month Employee
Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
