DeKalb Community Service Board is Hiring a Clinician Associate Licensed Near Atlanta, GA

JOB SUMMARYUnder general supervision, assess, screens, and counsels clients in an intensive outpatient mental health and/or substance abuse program to enhance, meet, or restore a client’s functioning capacity. Works with a multi-disciplinary team that provides individual and group psychotherapy and psychoeducation to adult mental health and substance abuse clients. Provides case management and develops client-driven treatment plans. Provides counseling/therapy to clients requiring complex intervention, including those who are homicidal, suicidal, or exhibit life-threatening behaviors, determines necessity for involuntary commitment and may partake in executing orders of involuntary commitment. Complete assessments, manage a case load, complete treatment plans, and obtain authorization for services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASSESSES/SCREENS MORE COMPLEX CASESPerforms thorough bio psychosocial assessment of the less complex to more complex clients and documents the assessment within agency guidelinesUtilizes information from multiple sources as appropriate in the formulation of client driven treatment planningAssesses and documents response to interventions and modifies interventions as neededMay utilize specific assessment tools regularly in evaluation of the clientDemonstrates strong clinical judgment in assessment, application of diagnostic criteria, clinical formulations, and sound triage decisionsSeeks clinical supervision as necessaryADVANCED THERAPEUTIC COUNSELINGCreates therapeutic relationship as appropriate with clients and families/significant othersConducts individual, family, group counseling /therapy, and educational sessions using evidence-based interventionsDemonstrates clinical knowledge in mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorder treatmentDemonstrates documented clinical proficiency (through education, training or experience) in client engagement, interviewing and recordingDEVELOPS AND PARTICIPATES IN COMPLEX CASE MANAGEMENT/CARE PLANNINGCreates, communicates, and coordinates treatment plan of the more complex clientDemonstrates expertise in care/planning through objectives, goals and specificity of planServes as resource to staff in demonstration of up-to-date knowledge of Claratel Behavioral Health, community, regional, and state resourcesAssist treatment team in problem solving regarding needed resources for complex clientsInsures timely communication with providers through proper exchange of written and verbal communicationDocument referrals, discharges, resources or other issues for problem resolution and/or utilization as required in agency policyMay serve as a liaison in community resource activitiesOPERATIONS:Demonstrates data driven decision capabilities with consulting with directorDemonstrates excellent customer service to internal and external clientsAssists in maintaining environmental safety and therapeutic milieu for staff and clientsPROFESSIONALProvides highest level of services to clientsMaintain licensure/certificationMaintains ethical standardsSupports clinical leadership to promote best practicesActively support agency goalsSKILL, COMPETENCY AND EDUCATION AND/OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTSMaster’s degree and licensure as an LMSW, LAPC, AMFT, LPC, LMFT or LCSW is required.Two years of related work experience, computer proficient and ability to multi-task.Demonstrates competency in using evidenced based treatments for mental illness and substance use disorders. INTER-RELATIONSHIPSAble to communicate effectively with co-workers, internal and external customers, and the public.Ability to interact and communicate with clients and their families effectively.Ability to provide encouragement and motivation to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks WORKING CONDITIONSOutpatient mental health clinic office setting – Monday–Friday 8:15am-5:00pm with some evening hours (as determined by clinic needs). Ability to use a computer, telephone, fax, copy and scanning machine. NEEDED ATTRIBUTESAbility to handle self well under stressful situations.Ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and professionalism.Ability to communicate well with others.Ability to multi-task.Ability to work within frameworks of a medical model and recovery model.Ability to work with co-occurring disorders.Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations.Pre-employment drug screening may be required.
