Definitive Healthcare, LLC is Hiring a Payroll Manager Near Framingham, MA

Your challenge: 

Reporting to the Vice President Finance Operations, the Manager, Payroll will take ownership of the global payroll workstream for our 800 employees across the US, Sweden, and India. The role is an integral part of the international accounting and finance team with a critical relationship to our human resources team. As our new Manager, Payroll, you will be responsible for managing employees and all global payroll functions including preparing, reviewing, and processing, the payroll and commissions for the company’s employees in a timely and accurate manner, and in compliance with government regulations.

Here are some things you will tackle:

Processing

  • Manage workflow to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, bonus, commission, benefits, garnishments, taxes, other deductions for new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates including exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Ensure all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited, approved, and transmitted accurately and in a timely manner for biweekly nonexempt and exempt populations in a multi-company, multi-state, multi-country environment for 800 employees
  • Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages, bonuses, stock compensation and employer paid benefits
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, W-2c, etc.) including partnering with HR for ACA reporting
  • Facilitate various payroll and annual 401k compliance audits

Management and Teamwork

  • Manage our Commissions Analyst and oversee the calculation of performance against commission and bonus plans and process for payment
  • Work with Human Resources to manage employee onboarding and offboarding and process company provided benefits and leaves
  • Work closely with Director of Total Rewards and Benefits Specialist on payroll related matters
  • Oversee the final steps of global implementation of ADP across Sweden and India
  • In collaboration with HR and Finance review support transactions related to monthly and annual equity grants 

Analysis

  • Research and interpret a variety of complex technical payroll information in response to inquiries from employees and management
  • Analyze and respond to matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures
  • Advise, interpret and provide direction to management and staff on rules and procedures pertaining to payroll best practices
  • Ensure consistency in payroll practices, controls, and management reporting in accordance with established policies and procedures including all legislative compliance requirements

Compliance

  • Maintain effective internal SOX controls and proactively work to identify and implement efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices
  • Ensure tax compliance of federal and state tax withholding as well as social security and Medicare withholding for U.S. employees

What you’ll need:

  • 5 years of calculating & processing payroll experience with ADP a plus
  • Experience with multi-company and multi-state payrolls with both exempt and non-exempt population
  • High functioning, working knowledge of relevant payroll related standard and requirements
  • Demonstrated success managing complex and competing organizational priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Certified Payroll Professionals (CPP) other recognized payroll certification preferred
  • Ability to think globally, strategically, and objectively while building scale
  • Analytical and process orientation skills
  • Understanding of employment/labor laws such as FLSA, FMLA, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to build trust within client groups and maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
  • Experience with commission/bonus plans
  • Self-starter, team player who is highly motivated and creative
  • Excellent processing skills and attention to detail
