Job Summary: Deerwood Country Club is currently seeking Certified Lifeguards for our busy summer season. Interaction with members and their children is a regular part of being a lifeguard at Deerwood Country Club. Lifeguards must be pleasant, respectful, and courteous in all interactions with members and coworkers, including while enforcing pool rules. This is a summer position that will run from June to September.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Greets members and guests by name whenever possible.
• Enforces safety standards and regulations.
• Enforces policies related to showers, proper attire, and other pool-related guidelines.
• Supervises and observes members and guests in and around the pool.
• Must be prepared to respond to emergencies promptly and administer first aid and CPR when necessary.
• Regularly checks and maintains pool equipment.
• Vacuums pool bottom; skims bugs and other debris from the surface to prepare the pool for daily use.
• Inspects swimming pool area, locker rooms, and restrooms throughout the shift to ensure cleanliness.
• Must be able to recognize, prevent, and correct potentially dangerous situations in and around the pool and report any safety hazards.
• Follows department’s appearance and dress code.
• Attends all required departmental meetings.
• Performs all opening and closing duties as assigned.
• Maintains a positive attitude and ability to work well with others.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Lifeguard certified
• CPR/AED certified
• First Aid certified
• Past experience as a lifeguard
• Strong swimming ability
• Able to work independently
• Excellent people skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends and holidays

Deerwood Country Club is a private equity country club in Jacksonville founded in 1960.
