Your Team

Baxter International is seeking a skilled Associate Director of Cloud Operations to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cloud technologists providing administration, operation, and monitoring of customer facing digital health software applications and platforms deployed in the Baxer’s Azure cloud platform. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that required security, privacy, availability, scalability, and compliance standards are maintained.

What you'll be doing

  • Participate in and play a critical role in Baxter’s technology leadership team, helping to drive company strategy in Digital Health at scale globally.
  • Drive strategies to ensure 24x7 availability of services and business continuity for customer facing healthcare software applications and platforms hosted on Microsoft Azure cloud globally.
  • Manage the technologists that administer Azure resources, including virtual machines, databases, and networking components.
  • Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and backup solutions.
  • Identify and implement industry leading operating strategies, tools and capabilities for enhanced observability and proactive service management. 
  • Collaborate with the security and compliance teams to ensure that Soc2 and other privacy & security compliance are maintained.
  • Assist in audits and provide documentation and evidence as required.
  • Define and refine Operations SLAs to maintain high level of Customer Satisfaction
  • Define key performance indicators that can be monitored, measured, and used to derive opportunities.
  • Standardize site metrics for stakeholders, reporting on various KPIs including SLAs, availability, capacity utilization, service metrics and cost utilization.
  • Set operating budgets and exercise the fiscal discipline in discharging activities against budget plans.
  • Define and manage role-based access control in Azure.
  • Implement and enforce privileged identity management policies.
  • Work closely with DevOps Engineers to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes.
  • Drive initiatives for Standardization, Automation and Self-service.
  • Enable early engagement of Ops team in new initiatives and enhancements to drive seamless knowledge transitions and rollouts. Provide technical support for projects from concept through to completion, identifying the operational needs and ensuring timely completion on Ops Readiness deliverables and tasks.
  • Manage an offshore technology partner in addition to a team of onshore employees.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • At least 10 years of full-time experience in Technology Infrastructure Management and a minimum of 15 years of total verifiable Technology experience.
  • Enterprise related engineering experience in 24x7 uptime, regulated environments.
  • Competency in Product, Platform, and system planning and operations.
  • Competency in Azure administration and operations.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare privacy and security compliance standards such as Soc2, HIPAA, GDPR, and NIST.
  • Working knowledge of related technologies including cloud, encryption, IPsec, VLANs, VPNs, routing, WAF/firewalls, proxy services, LAN/WAN connectivity, advanced security & threat protection.
  • Experience with systems administration, including Windows and Linux environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with a capacity to present, discuss, and explain issues coherently and logically, both in writing and verbally.
  • Experience in people leadership and management, including the ability to manage/ matrix manage multiple resources.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $152,000 to $209,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
